Gregory L. King

University of Mount Union

Greg King has worked at the University of Mount Union for more than 30 years in positions of increasing responsibility in areas ranging from student affairs and recruitment to diversity and advancement. Since 2008, he has served as the vice president for university advancement and member of the university’s leadership team, and in January 2023 he was named as Mount Union’s 14th President.

The majority of Greg’s professional career has been spent working in two revenue-generating areas on campus: advancement and admission. Under Greg’s leadership, Mount Union successfully completed two comprehensive campaigns, raising a total of $114 million. During his eight-year tenure as director of admissions, the institution recruited record classes six out of those eight years.

Currently, he is leading a five-year, $50 M comprehensive campaign to support capital projects, scholarships and the university’s endowment with $42M secured to date. Greg is also leading an effort to diversify the Board of Trustees to include increased representation of racial, ethnic and gender diversity.

He has taught freshman-level courses and served as an academic advisor to undergraduate students and staff advisor to the Black Student Union. A recipient of the Stark County Ohio Contemporary Trailblazer Award, he also has mentored countless minority students throughout their college and professional careers.

A native of Bedford, Ohio, Greg earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both business administration and sports management from Mount Union in 1989 and a Master of Education degree in higher education administration from Kent State University in 1993.
