Margaret Kasimatis, Ph.D.

As Interim Executive Vice President at Saint Mary’s College of California, Dr. Kasimatis is responsible for the management of all operations of the College and oversees the Vice Presidents, the Vice Provosts, the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Diversity Officer, and General Counsel. Previously Dr. Kasimatis served as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Saint Mary’s, and oversaw all units that have a direct impact on the student educational experience, including the academic schools, the library, academic services, faculty development, student life, enrollment services, and information technology. Prior to Saint Mary’s Dr. Kasimatis served as Vice Provost for Strategic Planning and Educational Effectiveness at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

As a faculty member Dr. Kasimatis published journal articles and book chapters on a variety of topics related to social cognition, including social-cognitive theories of motivation, the relationship between emotion and cognition, and the impact of gender terms on perception. As an academic administrator her scholarly work has focused on strategic planning, assessment, and culture change within universities. Dr. Kasimatis has also served as the Vice Chair of the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) and regularly serves as a WSCUC evaluator. Kasimatis earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from Loyola Marymount University and her master of science and doctoral degrees in social psychology from Purdue University.
