Dr. Brian D. Bethune was appointed Vice President of Learning Services at Bridgepoint Education, an educational technology services company based in San Diego, CA, in January 2019. He oversees course materials publishing, instructional design, and student support services. At Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, he initiated and launched the Online Degree Program in Psychology and Business (undergrad), and Business Analytics and Legal Studies (graduate). His responsibilities for these programs included support services, enrollment management, and marketing.
Dr. Bethune served as National Dean of DeVry University’s College of Media Arts and Technology, the College of Health Sciences, and the College of Liberal Arts which included the national library system and Graduate Schools of Education and Communication. Dr. Bethune launched DeVry’s first MOOCs reaching over 120K learners in two years.
As the Dean of Creative Arts for Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Executive Producer of the 10-day Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland and founder of MusicFestCleveland and JazzFest Picante. His Creative Arts division presented 70 – 75 professional touring events annually including Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Buddy Guy, Dave Brubeck, Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham. Dr. Bethune was responsible for the design of Tri-C’s $35M Center for Creative Arts, which houses the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives. As a former member of the Association for Fundraising Professions, Dr. Bethune raised 1.7 – 2M annually to support arts programs at Tri-C.
