Brad Duckworth, EdD

Director of Athletics

University of Wisconsin — Stevens Point

The 2024-25 season marks Duckworth’s ninth year as the director of athletics at UW-Stevens Point, eighteenth year as a director of athletics and twenty-eighth year in collegiate athletics.  During Duckworth’s first eight years at UW-Stevens Point, the Pointers have had great competitive successes including hosting and winning the 2019 NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey National Championship, the university’s 13th team title, and three different student-athletes winning individual National Championships.

The Pointers have also been successful in the classroom having several student-athletes win the coveted WIAC Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete Award; an award given annually to one student-athlete per sport throughout the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference.  The Pointers have boasted a collective 3.13 GPA since the fall of 2016.  Additionally, the Pointers continue to focus on community service and impact.  The Pointers won the 2018 NADIIIAA National Community Service award for their ongoing commitment to community service.

UW-Stevens Point Athletics has also benefited from tremendous philanthropy.  Some notable contributions include gifts that significantly renovated the baseball complex, build the largest turf field facility in the conference, beginning the first endowment for a women’s sport (volleyball), and created the Dan and Marilyn Hauser graduate assistantship program.

Prior to Duckworth’s arrival, he served nine years as the director of athletics and head basketball at Alverno College (Milwaukee, Wis).  At Alverno, Duckworth left as the all-time winningest basketball coach in school history, launched two new programs (women’s tennis and women’s golf), and served as a direct report of the President.  Duckworth was inducted into the Alverno Athletics Hall of Fame in October of 2023.

Duckworth has served on several NCAA committees including chairing the Women’s Basketball Rules Committee and NCAA Division III Softball Committee.  Currently Duckworth serves on the Playing Rules Oversight Panel (PROP).

Duckworth completed his doctoral degree in Student Affairs Administration and Leadership from UW-La Crosse in May 2020; the title of Duckworth’s dissertation is NCAA Division III Student Athlete’s Perceptions of Title IX.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management and a master’s degree in Sport Administration from UW-La Crosse.  Additionally, Duckworth has received a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Alverno College.
