Archie Tucker, II, currently serves as Senior Vice President of University Advancement at The University of Texas at Tyler. As SVP, Archie provides advancement leadership for the newly unified UT Tyler and UT Health Sciences Center at Tyler to include academic units, athletics, and academic medicine. His leadership responsibilities consist of development, advancement services, annual giving/alumni relations, community partnerships, and special events.
Prior to this appointment, Archie served as Vice President for Marketing, Communication & Advancement at Alabama A&M University. While at Alabama A&M, he was responsible for fundraising; marketing, public relations, and brand engagement; a 100KW radio station and television studio; The UPS Store, and print management. Archie has dedicated more than 15 years in higher education fundraising, including serving as chief development officer at Mississippi Valley State University. He has amassed 20 years, collectively, in the higher education landscape with stints in workforce development, career services, and enrollment management at Coahoma Community College and Delta State University, respectively.
Archie holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Mississippi Valley State University, Masters of Business Administration from Delta State University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education from Jackson State University. He has obtained additional certifications in leadership and/or fundraising from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Indiana University, Higher Education Leadership Foundation, The Lobby School, and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities & Association of Public Land-grant Universities’ Millennium Leadership Initiative to name a few.
Additionally, he is active in his local community and currently serves on the board of directors for the Tyler Economic Development Corporation and the Tyler Chamber of Commerce. He has served on several boards and committees from local to international. Tucker is active within the Association of American Medical Colleges, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). In 2015, he was named the inaugural Fundraiser of the Year by AFP North Alabama.
A native of Leland, Mississippi, Archie and his wife, Veronica, were featured on Season 3 of Ellen’s Game of Games in 2020. The couple has two boys, Jordan and Austin.
